The following resources are ones I have found helpful over the years in researching the lives of women from the Book. Such an undertaking truly is a matter of “here a little, there a little.” It takes patience to sift the chaff from the wheat so to speak; but when a more distinct profile begins to emerge, it is well worth the time spent.
Several of these books focus primarily on Scriptural and historical backdrops, or on a doctrinal perspective. Some present a decided feminist point of view. Others serve as guides for personal Bible study and introspection.
I use The Holy Bible as my primary source, measuring the contents of any resource against what I find there. I encourage the reader to cautiously evaluate the worth of reference material always in light of the Scriptures.
